The Natural Park combines wild beaches, coves and cliffs, salt marshes, volcanic mountain terrain and the famous Cabo de Gata, a rocky cape plunging into the Mediterranean.

Nature lovers are not to be outdone. The nature reserve is home to a wealth of flora and fauna. Several families of migratory birds inhabit the area, including pink flamingos. The seabed is also inhabited by a variety of underwater species, and is one of the most remarkable on Spain's Mediterranean coast.

Another feature of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park is the presence of numerous abandoned infrastructures, recognised as Assets of Cultural Interest. Remnants of the Phoenician, Roman and Arab civilisations that survived thanks to the use of natural resources, they constitute a veritable historical heritage.
